UK Project
Scope
This portion of an offshore platform was scanned in a few days and the clients engineering staff provided with a registered laser scan database for them to undertake engineering works using their own design tools.

Benefits
A significant time saving was achieved by collecting the as-built data offshore using rapid laser scanning as apposed to a traditional surveying approach. Design change management was controlled as a result of having a comprehensive as-built data base of the area rather than specific route corridor surveys. Time and cost savings were realised from not producing a CAD model and having the facility for the design team to have access to accurate as-built information allowing comprehensive clash detection and correct modification of the design.
