Scope

This project utilised Digital Photogrammetry to survey and record a lifeboat area of an offshore platform. The survey harvested data incorporating the boats davits and boarding area. This allowed a 3D model to high accuracy to be made ready for the client to undertake design work. This technique allows the new design to be overlaid onto the images for clash checking, design and HAZOP studies.

Benefits

A significant time saving was achieved by using Digital Photogrammetry instead off traditional dimensional control techniques, which would of required an extensive scaffold to be erected. The use of this technology allowed a replacement boat to be installed first time and with minimum downtime and without compromising the platform safety case.
